I have lived in the Pacific Northwest since 1980--Alaska for 6 years, Oregon for 11 years, and, currently, Washington for 12 years.  Much of my time has been spent doing environmental work--teaching or protecting natural resources with the National Park Service, Forest Service and Audubon.  Picture is looking up the Middle Fork of the Salmon River, Idaho, at its confluence with the Main Salmon.  Bob and I put together a private river trip (we were in a canoe) of the Middle Fork, a wilderness river, this July.
