Jerry Betts Obituary

Jerry Betts passed away on May 4, 2005, due to complications resulting from a motorcycle accident. Jerry was born April 15, 1951, the devoted son of Charles and Wilma (Spofford) Betts (both deceased). Jerry leaves behind his cherished wife Peggy; loving sister, Rene Brin and her husband, Mike Brin, (a long time high school friend), and their son (nephew), Matt, of Amherst, N.H. All of Peggy’s family mourns the loss of a devoted and loving son-in-law, brother-in-law and “funny Uncle Jerry.” Jerry was also predeceased by his brother Terry in 1969. Jerry was well-loved and respected by his local and business community.
============
He was best known for his random and compassionate acts of kindness experienced by anyone who crossed his path. Jerry owned Betts Wire Trap, serving the local community for 23 years. Jerry was also a fifth generation fisherman prior to opening his own business “J.B.’s.” Family and friends find solace in knowing that, with his wife, Peg, next to him, he died quickly and peacefully doing that which he most loved, riding his Harley on a sunny day Down East.

It is good to see how our many art classes with the mercurial Robert Lavigne at Middlesex truly paid off for someone!

Doug Campbell

Briefly, after HS I graduated from Univ of Miami, FL with BS and MA and ended up in the insurance business which got me transferred from Miami to Orlando to Chicago.  In 1996 I moved to San Diego and started my own insurance business, CRES Insurance Services (www.cresinsurance.com). We currently stilll own the business and live in San Diego.

In 2002 I bought a 47' catamaran sailboat named PLAN 'B' and since then my then girlfriend, now second wife, and I have been spending 12-20 weeks a year slowly working our way around the world.  We started in the Mediteranean, where the boat was built and I am writing this email in Raiatea French Polynesia (near Tahiti).  Next week we depart on a sail from here to the Cook Islands, the Kingdom of Tonga and Fiji.  We return to San Diego on July 1st.

We do plan to attend the reunion in August, I haven't been back to Darien or been in contact with anyone from our class except Randy Lunn since graduating so the reunion should be lots of fun.

Danny Summerton - Obituary

I am sad to report that my brother Daniel Summerton passed away from a sudden heart attack back on June 27, 2006 at his home in Sumner, WA. Dan is survived by his beloved wife Katie and daughter Jo. Dan was an IT support engineer at Echostar Communications at the Kent, WA office where he was highly regarded by his colleagues. He was a wonderful son, brother, husband, father, and a friend to all who would always go the extra mile. "The Road goes on Forever and the Sun Shines on for Miles".

With best regards to the Class of 1969 40th Reunion.

Tubing on the Delaware River- georgewdmrg@gmail.com

REALLY looking forward to the DHS 40th reunion.  But weekend before reunion also REALLY looking forward to rafting the Delaware River. It would be great if any DHS alum can join us.  See web links below.

Rafted and canoed the Delaware every year for about 10 years before moving to NC. By far the most fun all Summer.  Kids grew up hearing about these trips, but they've never been. At 23 and 27, they're old enough and they're coming.

Good chance about a dozen or more people joining us - people from the Fairfield and Westchester County.

More information about the place that rents the rafts and has large camping area along the River.
